Are you a podcast listener? What category do you like to listen to? I started listening to podcasts a few years ago, and being in the profession that I’m in, the first category that I was drawn to was in the health/fitness/wellness category. There are so many different podcasts out there just in this field, so I thought I would share a few of my favorites with you guys!
- The Model Health Show with Shawn Stevenson. This is the #1 Health podcast in the country, so it’s definitely a good one! He talks about all aspects of health including, nutrition, exercise, sleep, mental health, emotional health, brain health, and just about everything! Almost all of his podcasts feature guests who are experts on the topic he is discussing in that episode. He really dives into the science and research side of things, so if that is of interest to you, then you should definitely check this one out. His episodes tend to be around an hour long, so I usually break it up and listen while driving, running, going for a walk, or cleaning.
- The Chalene Show with Chalene Johnson. She has over 500 episodes, and this is actually the first podcast I ever listened to! Her podcast covers a wide range of health topics, but she also includes some more lifestyle and self development topics as well. She has episodes on forming better habits, dealing with stress and anxiety, improving mindset, parenting, relationships, and several other topics. What I like about Chalene is that almost all of the topics she discusses come from personal experiences. She explains how she was able to overcome the situation or make progress with it. The length of her episodes vary, but most are around 30 minutes.
- Redefining Strength Fitness Hacks with Cori Lefkowith. I just discovered Cori and her podcast a couple months ago. If you are looking for quick tips on exercise, this is a great podcast to listen to! She includes some topics on nutrition, but her show is very exercise and training based. Episode topics include how often to train, dealing with muscle soreness, building muscle as you get older, and more. Her episodes are usually about 10 minutes.
Keep in mind that a lot of podcasts are mentioning things about the current situation we are all in now, which is good to know that they aren’t trying to ignore the fact that we are in a pandemic. However, if you want to listen to something not related to current events, then just go back to older episodes for some great content!
